You provide the venue (home, school, office—almost anywhere in the Nashville area); we provide everything needed to build and battle a bunch of low-tech, vegetable-based robots (aka Tater Bots). We also do pop-up workshops around town; follow us on Instagram or get on our mailing list to find out about upcoming opportunities to build Janky Robots with us. Terms and conditions for pop-up workshops, including our cancellation policy, can be found here.
More about the Experience
- All tools and materials are provided, and ZERO technical ability is needed.
- You really will be attaching motors and batteries to potatoes and other nontraditional materials.
- Your robot will compete in a sumo-style tournament modeled on Hebocon, the “crappy robot contest” that originated in Japan in 2014.
- For the most part, we follow the Hebocon rules, which you can read here. Additional rules are here.

- This is a friendly competition, with prizes awarded not just to the overall winner but also in categories such as Jankiest Robot and Most Photogenic Robot.
- You get to take your robot home with you, and we provide suggestions for other things you can make with the non-perishable parts.
